More staying in touch via social media: Poll
By JACK WONG

KUCHING: More than six out of 10 respondents to an Internet portal opinion poll said they spend between two and four hours a day on social networking sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.
The rest spend less than an hour a day on these sites.
Preliminary results from the poll being conducted by Kuching-based Malaysia Pollster showed that social networking sites enabled users to add friends and keep them updated via messages, photos and profile updates.
It is not known how many people have so far responded to the survey, which ends on March 3.
Current results showed that nearly 54% of the respondents use social networking sites to keep in touch with close friends and family; 29% to subscribe to user groups of personal hobbies and interests, online games and applications; and the remaining 15% to promote their business.
One in five of the respondents said they used the sites to search or reconnect with previous romantic or sexual partners via messages and online chat.
Over 75% of the respondents also admitted that they were aware that owners of most of these social networking sites have the rights to all material that users upload and post on their sites.
